This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for STEM Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as the Deputy Director, Directorate of Public Works (DPW). As second in line of authority within the DPW, shares in the overall technical and administrative management of the Directorate.
What You'll Do
- →Work under broad direction and control of, and confers with, the Director on matters concerned with the broad policy and long-range planning.
- →Coordinate the activities of all DPW organizational elements daily; providing direction, supervision, guidance, and technical assistance in all program areas.
- →Conduct and/or attend work planning meetings to keep apprised of the progress of operations.
- →Coordinate with subordinate supervisors to resolve problems encountered in day-to-day operations or where major work assignments cross functional lines.
- →Monitor the progress of service contracts to assure compliance with terms, to evaluate progress and performance, to determine the need for revisions to, or termination, of contracts.
- →Fully participate with supervisor and subordinate leaders in developing Annual Work Programs designed to utilize available resources.
- →Implement policies, programs, and systems intended to promote increased production, effectiveness, improved techniques, and reduce costs.
- →Serves as professional advisor and consultant on engineering matters, attending policy, community relations, and planning conferences and meetings.
- →Directly supervise key subordinate supervisors and special staff members.
