About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-0801-13, Supervisory General Engineer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SILC-CEU JUNEAU DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION SECTION A in JUNEAU, Alaska.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a Supervisory General Engineer and be responsible for developing or maintaining highly effective Coast Guard (CG) facilities through assigned projects as well as performing as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for designs and studies performed by Architect/Engineering (AE) firms, contracted support personnel and construction contracts.
  • Projects include new construction of CG facilities or repair, maintenance, modification or renovation of existing CG facilities.
  • CG facilities include modern and historic buildings, waterfronts, airfields, hangars, aids-to-navigation facilities, communication facilities, single and multi-family housing, industrial buildings, multi-mission buildings, support structures and all associated utilities.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Performing the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.
  • Coordinating the development of designs for large multi­purpose, multiple phase projects.
  • Guiding and evaluating contractor efforts and assesses technical progress in relation to the established schedule and resources allotted.
  • Preparing technical assessment reports, design documents, implementation plans, and test plans.
  • Recommending acceptance or rejections to senior management.
  • Applying specialized technical knowledge of professional engineering and scientific concepts, methods, and procedures to analyze and define the requirements of multi­phase projects for CG facilities.
  • Coordinating subordinates with and participating on a multi­disciplinary team performing Facility Condition Assessment inspections at CG facilities.
  • Reviewing, advising on, and conducting complex analysis and development studies in support of major organization programs, including analysis of novel, unprecedented, or controversial problems.
