Serves as Assistant Branch Head of either the Exploration Space Mission Analysis Branch or the Science & Technology Space Mission Analysis Branch within the Systems Analysis and Concepts Directorate. In either role, you will support the Branch Head and assist with supervision and management of an engineering branch supporting decision-makers across the breadth of NASA's human exploration portfolio or NASA's science and technology portfolio, respectively.
What You'll Do
- →Provides overall leadership of branch activities, including establishment of organizational climate, definition of branch strategy, long-term development of branch capabilities, and implementation of organizational transformation activities.
- →Provides technical/programmatic oversight of branch projects/activities, including negotiation of expectations, development of work plans, execution of work, and delivery of products.
- →Performs technical review of products, as appropriate.
- →Leads and oversees systems analysis portfolio business development efforts, including identification of opportunities through engagement with customers, development/execution of capture plans, and negotiation of expectations/resources.
- →Works closely with customers to negotiate expectations/resources, developing an integrated resource plan in coordination with other center personnel and accounting for long-term needs, to inform staffing deployment, hiring, and contract planning.
- →Supports conduct of branch hiring/promotion efforts, including identification of and advocacy for hiring/promotion needs, development/release of announcements, evaluation/selection of personnel, and onboarding/integration into branch operations.
- →Provides supervision to branch civil servants, including establishment of performance expectations, evaluation of performance, conduct of corrective actions, development of employees through mentoring/training, and recognition of accomplishments.
- →Conducts day-to-day management of branch operations, including use of branch budgets, deployment of IT resources, approval of timesheets/leave, establishment of organization policies/procedures, and communication of statuses with stakeholders.
- →Provides oversight of branch contracting efforts, including establishment of contracts/tasks/agreements, monitoring of on-site/off-site work, evaluation of contractor performance, and development of branch policies/procedures.
- →Performs a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.
Requirements
- ✓This position requires education or exceptional experience.
- ✓If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
- ✓Applicants who do not fully meet the basic education requirement may still be considered if they possess exceptional relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience, that clearly demonstrates significant full performance-level achievement directly related to the duties of this position.
