About the Role

As a supervisor in the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD), you will lead teams supporting mission operations, mission readiness, facility and equipment work, and design efforts. You will oversee procedures, upgrades, and safe, effective environments for training, testing, and real time support.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluates organization and employee accomplishments by accepting or rejecting work products; presents and defends organization and employees' work to senior management and other offices.
  • Works with the Branch or Office Chief, obtains resources, identifies strategic objectives for the branch, defines technical work requirements and milestones, resolves performance and management issues or problems and recognizes high performance.
  • Ensures that branch strategic plans, mission, vision, and values are communicated and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, and work.
  • Serves as coach and facilitator in coordinating team initiatives, implementation, and coalition building.
  • Reports to the Branch of Office Chief on team and individual work accomplishments, problems, and work processes, including individual and team training needs.
  • Coaches the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques as well as risk trades while striving for innovative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Coordinates and leads integration activities across multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment with mission objectives, policies, and Directorate priorities.
  • Performs a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Requirements

  • Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following: a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science c) Social science, medical, or other fields directly related to the duties of the position.
  • If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
  • Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
  • Engineering degrees earned within the United States: Engineering degrees earned within the United States must be from a college or university that has at least one ABET accredited engineering program.

  • Engineering degrees earned outside the United States: Engineering degrees earned outside the United States must be recognized by a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), often known as accords.
