You will serve as the Deputy Branch Chief providing senior leadership for NASA's thermos-physics facilities, directing safe, reliable, and high-fidelity test operations that support thermal protection and hypersonic mission needs. The role manages workforce, resources, and strategic capability development; ensures configuration and safety compliance; leads technical authority functions; oversees modernization efforts; and represents the facility to programs and center leadership.
What You'll Do
- →Assists the Branch Chief in strategic planning, mission execution, workforce management, and overall branch leadership.
- →Helps develop long-term capability strategies, workforce planning, and technology investments.
- →Performs a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.
- →Oversees day-to-day operations of ground test facilities, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient test execution that meets project requirements.
- →Provides technical leadership for test planning, configuration control, test readiness activities, and operational decision-making.
- →Coordinates across engineering, safety, quality, research, facility operations, and project management organizations to align priorities and resolve issues.
- →Ensures compliance with NASA safety and mission assurance requirements, institutional policies, and configuration and risk-management processes.
- →Manages budgets (direct and reimbursable), establishes cost models/rates, and ensures fiscal stewardship for operations, maintenance, and capital investments.
- →Represents the branch in program reviews, audits, customer negotiations, and center governance boards; delivers authoritative briefings on capability, risk, and results.
Requirements
- ✓If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
- ✓Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
