About the Role

Primary responsibility is to provide program management, leadership, and instruction to the Eastern Oklahoma VA Healthcare System (EOVAHCS) by managing utilization, lifecycle replacements, and incident reporting. The incumbent will be responsible for directing, assisting, and instructing all facility employees on the use of government vehicles including GSA leased, and VA owned.

What You'll Do

  • Major duties of this position include but is not limited to: Exercises supervision over the daily activities of full-time staff assigned to assist in carrying out the functions of the units fleet management and grounds keeping responsibilities.
  • Assures the effective and efficient administration of activities supervised.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates and sets and adjust short-term priorities.
  • Interviews candidates for vacant positions and recommends selections; hears and resolves complaints and grievances from employees; effects minor disciplinary measures; and identifies training needs of employees and assures the conduct of such training.
  • Assigns work to subordinates based on the capabilities of the employees.
  • Evaluates work performance of subordinates; advises, counsels or instructs employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Finds and implements ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to productivity.
  • Manages the operation and administration of the combined Transportation/Grounds and Fleet Unit.
  • Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, requirements, and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
  • Priorities include general maintenance of vehicles, handling wrecks and accident claims, managing U.S. bank and toll fees, overseeing registration and associated fees, and cycling assignments across different sections.
  • Schedules and maintains necessary grounds maintenance requirements by supervising inhouse grounds maintenance staff responsible for the same contract requirements.
  • Manages movement of material and equipment throughout the facility and amongst satellite locations as directed.
  • Participates in the establishment of local policies for achieving management objectives and goals and represents management on such matters as required.
  • Monitors and tracks maintenance requirements in TMS, verify that all licenses and documentation are current.
