About the Role

In this position you will work as a Branch Chief, Supervisory Financial Program Manager, of the Financial Systems Divisions, Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO). The ideal candidate for this position will have experience managing administrative and operational financial management system programs; demonstrated experience providing expert and authoritative advice on financial management system program issues to senior officials.

What You'll Do

  • What will I do in this position if hired?
  • In this position, you will primary responsibility is providing leadership, direction, and management for the Financial Systems Reporting Branch that will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of OCFO reports and analytics that will be used by individuals across FEMA to support mission critical functions.
  • Typical assignments include: Provide expert advice and assistance to ensure effective management of the Financial Systems Reporting Branch which causes improvement of financial reporting related business practices and related supporting systems; and oversee program and management processes and systems encompassing difficult and diverse functions that are critical to the Agency mission.
  • Oversee a broad range of assignments which are regulatory in nature and must exercise exceptional judgment and ingenuity on issues and factors that are largely undefined and/or subject to interpretation.
  • Coordinate work across Branch and with program personnel in headquarters and in the regional offices including evaluating the performance of subordinate staff, making recommendations on the selection of subordinate positions, resolving problems between subordinate staff, recommending promotions, recommending disciplinary actions, approving leave, and approving expenditures for training and travel.

  • Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
  • All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
  • Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
