About the Role

The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in one of the SI facilities serviced by the Office of Facilities Management (FM). The Office of Facilities Management is responsible for all Smithsonian facilities, many of which are designated as historic and all of which are visited by millions of people each year.

What You'll Do

  • The Supervisory Engineering Technician directs the work of Engineering Technicians responsible for developing condition-based maintenance techniques and provides expert mechanical assistance throughout the Smithsonian Institution portfolio.
  • In this position, you will: Provide overall technical and administrative management and direction for a robust central HVAC maintenance program.
  • Supervise a staff of Engineering Technicians responsible for accomplishing their respective functions Develop guidelines and procedures for the capture and analysis of critical asset/system information necessary to improve data analysis.
  • Communicate with personnel at a variety of levels to convey progress, problems and recommendations.
  • Oversee external communication with Facilities Management Engineering and Construction staff on condition-based maintenance concerns.
