About the Role

This Co-Director position is located at the National Design, Construction and Soil Mechanics Center (NDCSMC). As Co-Director, the incumbent investigates, analyzes, designs, and supervises the installation of conservation structures such as dams, lagoons, streambank and slope stabilization measures, stream restoration measures, etcetera.

What You'll Do

  • As Co-Director of the NDCSMC, work closely with Soil Mechanics Laboratories, National Centers, National Headquarters and other entities to coordinate the development of technology, services, operations, plans, budget, and related activities.
  • Develop strategy, procedures and processes to manage and balance the review, design, consultative assistance, training and technology development for the construction, repair and rehabilitation of conservation structures.
  • Perform and direct long-term planning to determine needs and set priorities for the development or procurement of guidance document, technologies, and methodologies to support complex engineering structures.
  • Determine and recommend key engineering technology needed to address current workload plans and issues.
  • Provide full range of supervision to include but not limited to workload assignment, technical training, performance standards/appraisal, counsel and advice to ensure oversight of subordinates successful performance.
