About the Role

You will serve as the Deputy Director for the Mission Operations Directorate providing management and direction over: experimental facilities and equipment; design/development of procedures, techniques, and methods of equipment operation; design of facility modifications to meet test requirements; analysis, validation, and storage of test data.

What You'll Do

  • Assists Director in leading the development, acquisition, operation and sustainment of the Dryden Aeronautical Test Range.
  • Provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate employees; identifies strategic objectives for the organization; defines jobs and assignments; represents and defends organization and employees work to senior management.
  • Provides engineering analysis for special projects, future projects, and in advance planning of new systems and capabilities of all applicable agency programs and areas of concern and responsibility.
  • Provides coordination and management oversight of Directorate functions, Dryden Aeronautical Test Range; technical management of contracts providing services and products; resource analysis; management of the Radio Frequency (RF) Spectrum.
  • Manages flight test range operations, research aircraft telemetry, mission control rooms, air-to-ground communications, ground communications, flight data processing and data archival.
  • Directs and manages significant elements or phases of projects related to major organizational functions, programs, or projects.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Requirements

  • If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
  • Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
