About the Role
Serves as the Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) managing the personnel assigned to Operations Security Plans and Procedures (OSPP) Team. The OSPP Team is a component of the Air Traffic Organization¿s (ATO) System Operations Security directorate, which is responsible for 24/7/365 Air Traffic Management (ATM) security related to national defense, homeland security, and law enforcement operations, as well as responses to natural disasters and other crises.
What You'll Do
- →The Supervisory Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) directs the work of subordinate employees and/or managers for more than one organizational unit/project/program within a major subdivision.
- →Work usually includes a mixture of routine and complex projects/programs based on the objectives of the major subdivision, line of business/staff office (LOB/SO).
- →Carries out System Operations Security mission-related responsibilities, including supporting the directorate's efforts to respond to natural disasters and other crises, which may require work outside of regular assignments and in various operational settings.
- →Applies advanced technical knowledge of air traffic control procedures and requirements to direct the work of the team on Air Traffic Management (ATM) security, aviation security, and military operations in development of plans and procedures for national security and operational events and or issues related to homeland security and law enforcement.
- →Leads subordinates in developing and implementing ATM security and operational plans and procedures, ensuring safe execution of operations, protection of sensitive missions involving National Airspace System (NAS) flight data, and appropriate measures for external data release.
- →Oversees subordinate reviews of government and industry documents to assess their impact on operational security initiatives and provides findings to the manager for Strategic Operations, System Operations Security.
- →Ensures accuracy and relevance of content in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Orders.
- →Contacts are primarily internal to AJR with subordinates, peers, and higher-level managers to discuss the status of projects/programs and plans for the future.
- →In some areas, may have frequent contact with customers, other government entities, and other external parties (e.g. with counterparts in the Federal, state, local, military, public and private organizations) to interpret policies/procedures or for other project/program purposes.
- →Supports the United States delegation to ICAO Aviation Security (AVSEC) Panel Meetings with FAA subject matter expertise on aviation security matters related to ATM security.
- →Has authority to make commitments for subordinate organizational units, within guidelines.
- →Leads the development, coordination, and execution of security plans for air traffic and air navigation aids, to include planning and coordination for Emergency Security Control of Air Traffic (ESCAT) during Air Defense Emergencies and response to threats or attacks against the United States.
- →Participates in NAS operations involving recovery from disasters and other significant events and supervises teams of watch standers supporting the recovery of the NAS.
- →Engages in high level classified meetings and activities associated with national security issues.
