About the Role
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTANT in the FINANCIAL REPORTING/STATEMENTS (N8212), ACCOUNTING (N821), ACCOUNTING/FINANCIAL EXECUTION (N82), COMPTROLLER DEPARTMENT (N8) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.
What You'll Do
- →You will plan work to be accomplished, set short term priorities, and prepare work completion schedules.
- →You will document processes and validate account balances in order to full reconcile the account balances in the General Ledger.
- →You will reconcile accounts and identify the cause of complex accounting irregularities that exist between accounting records and general ledgers.
- →You will identify material discrepancies and will recommend corrective actions through intensive coordination efforts and follow-up.
- →You will provide guidance as it relates to Military Sealift Command's Financial Statements and Reports to keep the Supervisor of the Accounting Division advised on financial matters to maintain fiscal integrity and accountability.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Basic Requirements Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
- ✓The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
- ✓(The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard.
- ✓Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
- ✓The applicant's background must also include oneof the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.
