About the Role
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTANT in the Military Sealift Command (MSC), United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) Transportation Working Capital Fund (TWCF) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.
What You'll Do
- →You will prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular.
- →You will serve as senior accountant in support of the Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) initiatives with responsibility to ensure process and procedural compliance in accordance with Federal generally accepted accounting principles.
- →You will serve as a senior technical authority/Subject Matter Expert for the agency accounting programs providing professional accounting, finance and reporting services, management advice, and assistance to supported customers.
- →You will mentors team members in collaborative techniques, GAAP, and USSGL applications, providing actionable feedback to ensure deliverables meet leadership's quality standards for accurate financial statement preparation.
- →You will leverages Advana, DDRS, and sub-GL source systems to execute deep financial data analysis, ensuring transaction-level data accurately crosswalks to federal financial statement line items.
- →You will assess impacts to the assigned programs and ensure timely and effective implementation through development or revision of internal policies, procedures, and operating guidance.
- →You will ensure compliance with public law, regulatory requirements, and generally accepted government accounting principles.
Requirements
- ✓The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
- ✓(The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard.
- ✓Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
- ✓The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.
