About the Role

The Division of Corporation Finance (CF), Office of Rulemaking (OR) is seeking an Attorney Adviser (Special Counsel Rulemaking). As an Attorney Adviser, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Division's rulemaking process. Staff in the Office of Rulemaking can play a meaningful role in the Division's rulemaking projects, which often reflect some of the Commission's top priorities.

What You'll Do

  • In this role as a Special Counsel Rulemaking, you will be responsible for: Assisting with rulemaking projects, including conducting legal research and analysis, reviewing comments submitted in rule proposals and in response to requests for comment, drafting term sheets that outline rulemaking recommendations, drafting rulemaking releases, and coordinating with other divisions and offices.
  • Developing recommendations on the addition, elimination, or modification of Commission rules to satisfy Division objectives or statutory requirements.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on the procedures and administrative and technical requirements that apply to Commission rulemaking.
  • Assisting with special projects.

  • Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S.
  • Department of Education.
  • Internal Applicants: OHR will verify education qualifications for internal applicants using documents in the Electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF).
  • If required transcripts or certificates are not present in your eOPF, you will be required to provide them to OHR.
  • If selected, a start date will not be established until official transcripts are received.
  • FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs.
