What You'll Do
- →The successful candidate will lead the timely preparation and filing of briefs and other pleadings in the Federal courts on behalf of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission under the supervision of the General Counsel.
- →Coordinates litigating positions with the Department of Justice.
- →Provides authoritative advice and assistance to the General Counsel.
- →Provides leadership and guidance to attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel assigned to court litigation and in some cases writes pleadings and present oral arguments.
- →Such duties include but are not limited to: Represent NRC in court litigation, including leading the timely filing of briefs and pleadings and appearing at oral arguments and other court hearings.
- →Handles some cases directly and in others reviews and revises filings and arguments prepared by other attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel.
- →Make recommendations on seeking further judicial review of adverse decisions and on whether the NRC should participate as an amicus curiae or intervenor in non-NRC litigation, including matters raising preemption and statutory interpretation issues.
- →Serve as principal point of contact between the Office of the General Counsel and the Office of Commission Appellate Adjudication on agency adjudicatory matters.
- →Provides input, as requested, on draft Commission decisions.
- →Handle requests for depositions, testimony, or documents in non-NRC lawsuits, often in collaboration with other attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel and with the NRC staff.
- →Stay abreast of current judicial developments in administrative and environmental law, and communicates those developments, as appropriate, to colleagues and client offices at NRC.
- →Representing NRC in dealings with the Department of Justice and with other Federal agencies regarding court litigation and coordinating NRC litigating positions with the Department of Justice, in consultation with the General Counsel.

- ✓You must be a graduate of an accredited law school with a J.D., LL.B., or equivalent degree, and you must be an active member in good standing of the Bar of a state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.

- ✓Education must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S.
