About the Role

This position serves as the senior advisor to the Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director for Investigations (MD/DMD) on the progress of investigations and recommends and develops actions or policies to address issues that arise. Monitor the status and progress of accident investigation reports and Board products, consults with modal offices on scope and timing of investigations and products, ensures consistency in report format, quality and structure.

What You'll Do

  • As a Senior Advisor for Investigative Products,GS-0301-15, you will perform the following major duties: Ensure the effective and efficient management of the agency's investigative products by providing information, program direction, issue analyses, and recommendations.
  • Gather quantitative and qualitative data from various internal accident investigative sources; monitors data to identify and tract trends, identify problems, and resolve or recommend solutions.
  • Conduct analyses of issues or problems occurring within the investigative processes of the agency and recommend/develop policies or procedures to address them.
  • Attend investigative work planning meetings, report planning meetings, or other product-oriented meetings to represent the Managing Directors view and concerns and serve as a resource and advisor/liaison to clarify and track action items.
  • Develop and maintain the risk register for investigative processes, procedures, and products.
  • Analyze specific areas of concern in investigative products, processes, and/or procedures to assess historical trends and identify emerging trends.
