About the Role
Serves as Safety Technician for the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department (MWR), Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan (CFAY). Incumbent performs administrative, training tasks in support of the MWR Facilities Manager and MWR Department safety activities. Documents various safety actions and maintains record file. Maintains liaison with CFAY Safety Office and higher organizations on accident, fire and property loss reporting and other safety matters.
What You'll Do
- →Performs routine inspections and investigative work in monitoring occupational safety and health laws.
- →Investigates and reports on unsafe mechanical and physical conditions and work practices evolving from carelessness or negligence that may involve injury to persons or damage to property or both.
- →Inspects and evaluates safety issues that may arise throughout the organization.
- →Assists senior MWR managers and/or the CFAY Safety Office with planning, organizing, executing, documenting, and analyzing surveys of areas of assigned responsibility.
- →Investigates alleged hazardous conditions, practices, etc., to identify hazards and possible means of elimination.
- →Monitors the MWR safety program by coordinating with the MWR management team and other personnel responsible for the operation and conduct of the programs.
- →Conducts surveys of MWR facilities and programs.
- →Documents and prepares appropriate survey forms and reports.
- →Conducts follow-up surveys as required.
- →Assists senior Safety Specialists from the CFAY Safety Office in conducting surveys and evaluations of low-medium hazard installation activities, i.e., administrative operations and facilities, logistic and storage facilities, playgrounds, recreational and community facilities, etc.
- →Initiates and monitors work-order submissions, progress, and completion for assigned areas.
- →Provides general support to other areas of the MWR Department safety program.
- →Suggests plans, procedures, or equipment to improve safety conditions.
- →In conjunction with MWR facility and program managers, initiates work orders and other facilities paperwork to repair or mitigate facility-related deficiencies.
