This position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (http://www.milwaukee.va.gov/). What You'll Do
- →This position is located at the Clement J.
- →Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the Acute Care Inpatient Nursing Division on 4C.
- →The function of the Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) is to provide, direct, and supervise the delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran population of varying complexity.
- →The Acute Care Inpatient Nursing Division on 4C delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills.
- →Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- →Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- →Other duties include, but are not limited to: Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers.
- →Maintain confidentiality of patient/employee information electronically, verbally and written.
- →Work and function within a safe manner including infection control and operation of equipment.
- →Utilize nursing research, evidence-based practice and literature in daily practice.
- →Provide care appropriate to the biopsychosocial needs of the population served.
- →Practice requirements include Basic Life Support (BLS).
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
