About the Role
The Quality Management (QM) Consultant Risk Management Registered Nurse (RN) practices within the Quality and Patient Safety Service Line and functions as a clinical expert and executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. The QM Consultant performs duties directly contributing to high quality and safe patient care within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
What You'll Do
- →Duties include, but not limited to: Incorporates performance improvement activities within the overall program to reduce and minimize risks within the medical center through such activities as clinical monitoring of high risk activities (i.e., code blue, restraints, moderate sedation, airway management, invasive procedures, etc.).
- →Collaborates with the Patient Safety Manager to trend and analyze patient incidents, ensuring the integration of the Patient Safety and Risk Management programs.
- →Coordinates the distribution of risk management advisories and other non-VA alerts (e.g.
- →Joint Commission Sentinel Event Alerts).
- →Triages complaints and claims related to professional and general liability, while assisting with requests from the Office of Medical and Legal Affairs hearings and case reviews.
- →Effectively communicates with Human Resources and legal counsel to facilitate a corrective action plan.
- →Responsible for loss prevention and reduction (clinical and non-clinical), claims management, through patient and employee safety and regulatory accreditation compliance.

Requirements
