About the Role

The Registered Nurse - Patient Safety Manager functions as an advanced clinician and executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for a group of patients.

What You'll Do

  • Leads and organizes delivery of care to ensure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Applies clinical knowledge/ judgement to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcome beyond the immediate practice setting.
  • Communicates and collaborates as an effective leader in the interprofessional team with improved evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes.
  • Demonstrates evidence-based practice/ research resulting in improved outcomes Utilizes patient safety culture survey data and analysis to promote a culture of safety.
  • Trains and coordinates patient safety activities of personnel within the facility.
  • Responsible for translating the policies, theories, and strategies into action within the complex interrelationships that exists related to patient safety.
  • Maintains clear communication between the facility and VISN leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

  • Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • You may be required to serve a probationary period.
