About the Role
This position functions as a clinical expert, responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process in providing and/or supervising direct patient care within the Community Care Service Line. The Nurse Manager (NM) demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches in the management of complex patient care and assumes responsibility for the coordination of care with an emphasis on patient education, self-management, and satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
What You'll Do
- →The Nurse Manager duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Functions as the designated first-line supervisory authority for assigned units, ensuring operational effectiveness, staff supervision, and coverage as needed for other Nurse Managers.
- →Provides leadership, mentorship, and oversight of orientation, competency, training, and professional development for all unit staff.
- →Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of patient care based on age-specific and population-based needs.
- →Exhibits clinical judgment and decision-making abilities, serving as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor.
- →Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to optimize care delivery, address barriers, and design and implement evidence-based, innovative programs and processes.
- →Participates in, and provides leadership for, strategy planning and execution in alignment with organizational objectives and vision.
- →Provides informal, constructive feedback to peers, and supports colleagues in delivering safe, quality nursing care.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
