About the Role
The VA New Mexico Healthcare System is seeking a highly skilled/experienced Registered Nurse to serve within our Community Care Service. Work location will be at the Raymond G. Murphy Medical Center in Albuquerque. Will serve as a consultant for problem solving in nursing and organizational issues. Is accountable for utilizing critical thinking skills and sound judgment to ensure positive outcomes and delivering quality patient care and conducting performance improvement activities.
What You'll Do
- →Typical duties include but are not limited to: Applies the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group level to improve care.
- →Demonstrates leadership by involving others in improving care.
- →Leads change in practice by planning. designing, implementing, and evaluating guidelines, protocols and standards in collaboration with leadership.
- →Supports, participates, and contributes to educational programs for staff at the unit/service/ departmental level.
- →Uses technology and educational methodologies to enhance the transfer of learning.
- →Supports and enhances client self -determinate.
- →Serves as a resource for clients and staff in addressing ethical issue Participates in consultations to health care teams by analyzing ethical issues and providing guidance as appropriate for concerns related to health informatics.
- →Advocates for and demonstrates ethical behavior related to privacy, security and confidentiality when handling data. information, and knowledge.
- →Safeguards patient privacy and maintains confidentiality of all electronic and printed patient information according to VHA information security requirements.
- →Initiates and uses positive, effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation, teamwork, and effective interaction with internal and external customers.
- →Demonstrates professional behavior, good interpersonal relationships, and effective communication skills with co-workers.
- →Uses group process to identify, analyze, resolve care problems.
- →Shares knowledge both formally and informally as a resource person or consultant.
- →Interacts in a professional manner, utilizing effective communication skills.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
