About the Role
The Department of the Interior is currently seeking qualified candidates for the Senior Executive Service (SES) position of Regional Director, Columbia Pacific Northwest located in Boise, ID. The Department structures its SES positions into categories to determine the minimum pay for each position. This is a Category 2 position. The minimum pay for this position is $181,600.00. Pay is set based on consideration of the selectee's current salary and other factors.
What You'll Do
- →The incumbent carries out the following specific responsibilities: Ensures execution of Reclamation's core mission, including delivery of water and generation of power through effective operation and maintenance of regional water resource projects.
- →Responsible for ensuring the proper management of the lands associated with such projects and the use and conservation of the resources located on those lands.
- →Responsible for directing all activities required to carry out these functions, which includes, but is not limited to, project operation and maintenance, dam safety, personnel safety, facilities security, compliance with all applicable statutes and regulations, environmental compliance, and resources management and planning.
- →Responsible for directing various other programs and activities of the region, which include planning studies, water conservation projects, water reclamation and reuse projects, and providing technical assistance to Native American tribes and others.
- →Responsible for ensuring that the projects and programs in the Region are carried out efficiently and effectively.
- →Responsible for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of all of Reclamation's multiple-purpose water and power resource facilities in the Region.
- →Provide support and direction to management policies and guidelines stated by the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner-Operations.
- →Responsible for ensuring the formulation and execution of budgets, planning and development of work plans, timely and efficient execution of all programs, the setting of program and resource priorities, the allocation of staff and budgetary resources, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- →Responsible for ensuring that program performance measures are developed, tracked, and reported as required, and that appropriate internal controls are in place for all programs and activities.
- →Represents Reclamation in numerous public forums, including testifying before Congressional and state legislative committees, making public speeches, meeting with the press and editorial boards, and holding large, and sometimes highly charged, public meetings.

- ✓Public Financial Disclosure (OGE-278 filing within 30 days is required) This position may require pre and post-employment drug screening.

- ✓Initial appointments to the SES must have to undergo an ECQ based structured interview with Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
- ✓Required to serve a one-year Senior Executive Service probationary period.
- ✓Individuals selected for an SES position are subject to reassignment Agencies must request OPM approval to appoint current or former (within 5 years) Executive Branch political appointees to permanent competitive service, non-political excepted service, or career SES position.
- ✓You must be able to obtain/maintain a Tier 5 background investigation.
- ✓This position sensitivity is Critical Sensitive, Top-Secret.
- ✓There is no positive educational requirement for this position.
