About the Role
Positions advertised are in various organizations at Ames Research Center. NASA may fill positions in any of the following series and at any grade level listed in this announcement (GS-0801 and 0861 series, at the GS-11/12/13/14/15 levels).
What You'll Do
- →Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised.
- →Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
- →Advises, administers, or performs professional, scientific, or technical work concerned with engineering or construction/architectural projects, facilities, structures, systems, processes, equipment, devices, material or methods.
- →Conducts studies for NASA Programs/Projects and its partners.
- →Performs multiple functions which may include planning, research, design, development, software development, custom instrumented test coupon design and build, test and evaluation, cost analyses, program, or project management.
- →Serves as a member of multidisciplinary teams supporting design, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting of experimental facilities such as the Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel, Arc Jet Complex, Vertical Motion Simulator, FutureFlight Central, etc.
- →Develops and maintains technical procedures, test plans, safety documentation, operational instructions, software, and configuration management records required for safe and repeatable facility operations.
- →Works in dynamic operational environments involving hazardous energy systems, competing priorities, and rapid turnaround schedules.
- →Coordinate with operators, technicians, engineers, and test customers.
- →For supervisory positions, performs a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.
Requirements
- ✓If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
- ✓Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
- ✓Engineering degrees earned within the United States: Engineering degrees earned within the United States must be from a college or university that has at least one ABET accredited engineering program.
