About the Role

This position reports to the Administrative Officer, Surgical Service. Program Support Assistant (OA) is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating administrative and technical support for multiple sections within Surgical Service. Provide information, submit requests or changes, and similar activities, as well as assemble and compile preliminary data for use by the Surgical Service staff. Scheduling and coordinating appointments for the section chiefs and directors as requested.

What You'll Do

  • Include but not limited to: Provide information, submit requests or changes, and similar activities, as well as assemble and compile preliminary data for use by the Surgical Service staff.
  • Manage reports, data, and performance indicators, including regular monitoring of the Electronic Action Required Report (EARR) and the appropriate distribution of encounter errors.
  • Responding to telephone calls, mail, and electronic mail daily.
  • Directing messages, visitors, and phone calls to appropriate staff members based on requests.
  • Typing memoranda; clinic cancellation requests; supply ordering; and, submitting work orders and other VA forms as necessary.
  • Scheduling and coordinating appointments for the section chiefs and directors of these programs as requested.
  • Coordinating auditorium space reservations, time, media equipment, handouts, guest presenters, Human Resources orientation, Veterans Canteen Services, and Facilities Management.
  • Maintain accurate up-to-date filing systems for quick retrieval for reporting needs.
