The Division Administrator serves as senior manager and principal representative of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) at the State level and is responsible for overseeing Federal-aid program delivery and providing direction to FHWA partners and customers at the State and local levels.
What You'll Do
- →As a Division Administrator, you will: Serve as the principal representative of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) with the State Highway Department and will be responsible for administering the total Federal-aid Highway Program in the State.
- →Provide leadership and guidance to State and local officials in the identification of surface transportation needs and related priorities in carrying out national transportation program goals.
- →Establish Division Office objectives, priorities, and timetables.
- →Commit Federal funds expended while maintaining compliance with applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.
- →Direct Federal-aid oversight initiatives and stewardship functions relying on annual risk assessments of the State's Federal-aid program and enforcement of fiscal accountability and current financial management policies and practices.
- →The Ideal Candidate is an experienced mid to late career Federal Highway Administration employee with Federal-Aid or Federal Lands Highway management and leadership experience.
Requirements

- ✓SELECTIVE SERVICE: Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for the Selective Service.
- ✓GOVERNMENT TRAVEL CARD: This position involves travel.
- ✓A government contractor-issued travel card will be issued and must be retained for official business only.
- ✓BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: A background security investigation is required for all selected individuals.
- ✓Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of the security investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Failure to meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
- ✓PCS/RELOCATION/RECRUITMENT: Permanent Change of Station (PCS), Relocation, and Recruitment Incentive authorization varies by position/selection and a service agreement may be required.
- ✓PROBATIONARY PERIOD: You must complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).
- ✓TIME-IN-GRADE: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the competitive or excepted service in the executive branch to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
