The Under Secretary of War (Comptroller) is responsible for carrying out the functions assigned by Title IV, Public Law 216, 81st Congress and codified in Title 10 & 135. These functions ensure the utmost economy and efficiency in the operations of the Department of War (DoW) through sound business management and effective fiscal planning and control.
What You'll Do
- →Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing policies, programs, and procedures for providing management officials with useful and timely information needed for effective direction of DoW programs.
- →Continually evaluating and maintaining readiness of the current and new Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS), identifying actual or potential problem areas, and devising and directing corrective actions while also determining optimum allocation of staffing support and IT equipment.
- →Review program and budgetary processes related to financial controls and reporting requirements to identify areas for improvement.
- →Responsible for preparing and updating guidance in the DoW Financial Management Regulation regarding automated budget systems.
- →Review and validate program budget review decision documents and other financial documents for compliance with established criteria and ensures proper reflection of approved decisions and other budgetary data in the automated budget system.
