About the Role

This position is located in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS), Office of Management Services (MGT), Policy and Planning Division (PPD) at the U.S. Department of State. DS/MGT/PPD develops & implements Bureau-wide policies and planning. The incumbent serves as a Program Analyst who reviews, develops, and/or initiates policy revisions in response to changes in program requirements or other developments affecting Diplomatic Security programs. What You'll Do

  • Contributes to the development and formulation of policies in support of Department and Bureau missions and assists with setting requirements for the effective implementation of security related controls for program operations.
  • Conducts continuing analysis of assigned programs to determine if those programs are in conformance with DS policies and directed toward accomplishment of major objectives.
  • Researches current or new management practices for application to programs or operations and for approaches to the implementation of new policies, procedures and planning efforts.
  • Reviews audit and inspection reports & coordinates DS responses to ensure the Bureau's compliance with recommendations from various government agencies.
  • Schedules/coordinates meetings and conferences to gather Bureau responses to audits & inquiries.
  • At the GS-09 level, the incumbent performs essentially the same duties as outlined above; however, the scope and complexity of assignments are of less responsibility and independence and receive closer supervision that at the GS-11 level.
