As a senior Program Analyst in OMB's Office of the Federal Chief Information Officer (OFCIO), the Artificial Intelligence Program Analyst will be responsible for establishing and overseeing policies to remove barriers to agencies' use of AI while also managing risks specific to the use of AI. The position will lead the collaboration across agencies and policy teams to implement artificial intelligence across the executive branch.
What You'll Do
- →As a Program Analyst (Artificial Intelligence), GS-0343-14/15, your typical work assignments may include the following: Supports Federal-wide efforts to assess agency artificial intelligence (AI) challenges and work proactively to address such challenges through policy creation and implementation.
- →Reviews both agency-specific and Federal-wide AI policies, procedures, programs, and budgets through detailed qualitative and quantitative analyses and working with relevant leadership to close gaps.
- →Supports external engagements regarding agency use of AI.
- →Reviews AI legislation in order to suggest changes and provide information regarding Federal AI issues to White House leadership and briefing Congress on the state of Federal AI.
- →Coordinates with relevant OMB Resource Management Offices (RMOs) to take necessary budgetary actions to advance the responsible use of AI while adequately managing its risks.
- →Engages with the Chief AI Officers Council and interagency committees related to AI.
- →Oversees the performance of agencies providing AI guidance and assistance; such as NIST and the General Services Administration.
- →Reviews agency AI activities, including through agencies' reporting on their AI use cases, and coordinates with other OMB staff to adequately address agencies' relevant risks and issues.
- →Updates reporting guidance to agencies, aiding interpretation of such guidance, and reviewing corresponding agency submissions.
- →Responsible for direct engagement with an agency's CIO and team to conduct oversight and support implementation efforts within their overall IT portfolio.
- →Preparing and/or analyzing written Federal policy analyses and policy option papers.
- →Communicates complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel and to prepare and present briefings to senior management officials on complex/controversial issues.
- →Establishes and oversees mechanisms to remove barriers to agencies' use of AI and to manage risks specific to the use of AI, such as discrimination or unsafe decision making.
