We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.
What You'll Do
- →This position is located within the Office of Background Investigations and Credentialing (OBIC) Badging and Credentialing Division (BCD).
- →OBIC is responsible for conducting background investigations on potential employees and fingerprinting USCP applicants as well as employees and members of the Congressional community.
- →Duties will include: Conducts criminal background investigations through eAgent and Livescan.
- →Uses commonly accepted investigative methods and techniques to identify, collect, and evaluate evidence.
- →Reviews and analyzes information to determine if a crime has been committed.
- →Interprets criminal results received through a background investigation.
- →Identifies potential criminal activity.
- →Drafts written reports.
- →Uses traditional investigative techniques to inspect and identify suspicious and questionable government documents.
- →Confirms extraditable warrants with agencies across the country and assists civilian Investigators and other law enforcement agencies in locating and arresting suspected criminals.
- →Reviews, evaluates, and adjudicates criminal background investigations and other records to determine whether to grant, deny, or revoke access to Capitol Hill.
- →Adheres to the hiring process for sworn employees, civilian employees and contract staff to ensure new hires are suitable for employment.
- →Performs other relevant duties in support of or associated with the investigative or credentialing process.
- →NOTE: Two (2) selections may be made from this vacancy announcement, with varying selection dates.
Requirements
- ✓Must be a current USCP sworn employee below the rank of Sergeant and have attained the rank of Private First Class.
- ✓Must have successfully completed your probationary period by the closing date of this announcement.
- ✓Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- ✓Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- ✓Must not be in restricted leave status as of the date of selection.
- ✓Must be in a full and unrestricted duty status to attend, participate, and successfully complete all required training courses related to this position as of the date of selection.
- ✓Must be available to work flexible and/or additional hours.
- ✓Must meet all USCP grooming standards as stated in Directive 1072.001.
- ✓There is no education substitution for experience in this series and/or grade.
