What You'll Do

  • You will instruct new police officers on tasks and techniques, provide written instructions, reference materials and supplies needed to complete instructions.
  • You will provide on-the-job training to new police officers in accordance with FTO program and establish procedures and practices; monitor trainee progress and make recommendations; ensure trainees perform work according to department guidelines.
  • You will monitor activities in the field and provide technical guidance, assistance and instruction to new police officers; provide guidance on the enforcement of laws, rules and regulations.
  • You will review Incident Reports for accuracy, annotate discrepancies and/or areas of concern.
  • You will ensure trainees receive training and are current on qualifications, ensure trainees are in compliance with command policies, and ensure trainees receive all information regarding new regulations, instructions and policies.
  • You will respond to emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service during watch; respond to and conduct preliminary investigations relating to incidents aboard installations.
  • You will research, conduct interviews and execute investigative techniques to resolve a wide range of criminal activities.
  • You will perform traffic law control and enforcement; direct movement of vehicles/pedestrians and observe and report traffic safety hazards.

Requirements

  • No substitution of education or training may be made for the required specialized experience at the GS-06 level or above.
