About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →The Robley Rex VA Medical Center is currently seeking outstanding full-time Family Practice or Internal Medicine trained Physicians to join our Primary Care Clinic Team as a Primary Care Provider.
- →This incumbent will be responsible to provide comprehensive medical care, under the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model, to a panel of patients managed under PCMM guidelines.
- →The incumbent is expected to be attentive to patient education, preventive care and be able to work well in an interdisciplinary team to provide high quality primary care.
- →The incumbent will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care.
- →Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manages chronic conditions, evaluates and treats inter-current medical conditions.
- →Conduct medical assessment and develop treatment plans according to accepted protocols.
- →Collaborates with a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) to provide accessible, comprehensive, coordinated, continuous care to an assigned panel of patients.
- →Performs a variety of disease prevention related activities including sex and age specific screenings, mental health screenings, and health promotion activities.
- →Screens for, evaluates and treats uncomplicated common mental health disorders, including depression and common addictions, with referrals made to mental health providers for further evaluation and treatment as appropriate.
- →Primary care physicians will have responsibility for supervision of or collaboration with primary care mid-level providers.
- →Physicians are expected to provide clinical oversight and to participate in peer review of other primary care providers through periodic chart reviews.
- →Primary care physicians will act as surrogates for absent primary care providers when needed, to include review of CPRS view alerts.
- →Primary care physicians will attend primary care staff meetings, departmental meetings and medical staff meetings.
- →Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) is necessary in all areas in accordance with facility policy.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
