About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
- →VHA Physician Total Rewards.
- →The Pulmonary section provides medical (non-surgical) care to inpatients, outpatients and long-term care.
- →Some non-invasive and invasive respiratory procedures (as detailed below) are performed.
- →Provide care in the Intensive Care Unit to Medical and Surgical Critical Care Patients.
- →The Physician will obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
- →The pulmonologist/intensivist will coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
- →The pulmonologist/intensivist will perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).
- →Provide on-call services as assigned.
- →Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
- ✓Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.
- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
