About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

What You'll Do

  • **This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCMENT and will remain open until July 13, 2026.
  • The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be May 18, 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks.
  • Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available.** VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.

  • EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
  • The CBOC operates under a Patient Aligned Care Team Model.
  • Together with his or her team, comprised of a PCP, RN, LVN, and a Clerk, the PCP cares for a panel of approximately 800-1200 patients.
  • The PCP provides primary care services in a team-based setting, including chronic disease management and preventive health.
  • Common diagnoses encountered include diabetes, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, degenerative arthritis, depression, congestive heart failure, and chronic pain.
  • Responsibilities: Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation for non-surgical adult patients of all ages, without life-threatening complications and with a wide variety of diseases, injuries, and disorders.
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
  • Collaborate with/oversee mid-level providers such as other nurse practitioners and works collaboratively with other specialties (and subspecialties) in and outside of the VA system to manage or co-manage patients' health.

Requirements

  • Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
  • Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
  • Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • You may be required to serve a probationary period.

  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
