About the Role
The nature of the work involves the various clinical functions of Occupational and Environmental Medicine to include providing appropriate care for employees in an occupational and environmental health setting and ensuring ultimate responsibility for determining if an applicant or employee meets required physical or medical standards for their position in the facility. Responsible for conducting environmental health registry exams and assessment of other military environmental exposures.
What You'll Do
- →Performing indicated medical surveillance examinations in accordance with OSHA requirements and hospital and VHA policies and procedures Providing first aid or interventions designed to allow employees to remain at work, as appropriate, for non-work-related illnesses and injuries Working with other services (i.e.
- →Safety, Human Resources, Infection Control, and Quality Management) to identify employees at highest risk for injury or illness and identifying strategies to help lessen the risk within these groups Providing Agent Orange, ionizing radiation and other environmental assessments for the Environmental Exposure Registry, and military environmental exposure assessments.
- →Provide higher level environmental exposure consults as needed Offer support for assessment of non-registry related military environmental exposures Serve as Medical Review Officer for the facility VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
