About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program(EDRP),a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000)& eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

What You'll Do

  • The incumbent is responsible for supervising neurologists and associated clinical staff, ensuring high-quality delivery of inpatient and outpatient neurologic care, and maintaining compliance with VA, VHA, and facility policies.
  • The Section Chief oversees clinical operations, general neurology, subspecialty care (stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular conditions), diagnostic procedures (EEG,EMG/NCS, lumbar puncture), and tele-neurology services.
  • Major Duties/Responsibilities to include but are not limited to: Supervise neurologists, advanced practice providers, and technical staff; oversee scheduling, workload distribution, and clinical productivity.
  • Manage Neurology clinic operations, including staffing models, access targets, consult management, and tele-neurology services.
  • Perform neurologic evaluations, procedures, and subspecialty care within the scope of privileges.
  • Oversee quality metrics, OPPE/FPPE processes, peer review, and compliance with credentialing/privileging requirements.
  • Collaborate with primary care, emergency medicine, radiology, rehabilitation, pharmacy, mental health, and social work to optimize multidisciplinary care.

Requirements

  • Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • You may be required to serve a probationary period.

  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
