About the Role
The Interventional Cardiologist at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center is responsible for providing comprehensive cardiovascular care to veterans. This includes performing diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures, managing pre- and post-procedure care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of patient care. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the latest interventional cardiology techniques and a commitment to education and research.
What You'll Do
- →Duties to include: 1.
- →Clinical Care: Perform interventional procedures such as angioplasty, stenting, and other catheter-based treatments to address coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular conditions.
- →Provide comprehensive cardiovascular evaluations and consultations.
- →Manage acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions for veteran patients.
- →Interpret cardiac imaging studies, including echocardiograms, stress tests, and catheterizations. 2.
- →Patient Management: Oversee the care of patients before, during, and after interventional procedures.
- →Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and evidence-based guidelines.
- →Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, surgeons, and nurses, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- →Provide patient and family education regarding disease management, treatment options, and preventive measures. 3.
- →Procedural Expertise: Maintain proficiency in the latest interventional cardiology techniques and technologies.
- →Ensure all procedures are performed in accordance with established protocols and standards.
- →Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives related to interventional cardiology services. 4.
- →Education and Training: Serve as a mentor and educator to medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals.
- →Participate in continuing medical education (CME) to maintain and enhance clinical skills.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
