About the Role
The VA Fargo Healthcare System is recruiting for (2) Full-time Hospitalists. The Hospitalist is assigned to the Fargo VA HCS, Specialty Care ICC, providing comprehensive, efficient, compassionate, high-quality healthcare to all patients, functioning as a member of the inter-disciplinary team providing clinical care to the patients at FVAHCS in inpatient setting.

- →The Hospitalist will serve as the supervisory inpatient attending / hospitalist physician for house staff on call for the Medicine services overnight and on the weekends, as well as serve as primary admitting physician for adult patients who are admitted facilitating patient flow and teaching service capacity.
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Provide trainee supervision, and training of internal medicine residents and medical students in all their clinical activities overnight if applicable.
- →Admits and manages inpatients including patients, general adult medical illnesses.
- →This includes admitting patients and performing histories and physical examinations; rounding on patients and writing progress notes; discharge / transfer planning and timely completion of discharge summaries.
- →Assist with patient flow and co-care services for inpatients.
- →Provides inpatient internal medicine consultations at night to other services, including but not limited to, Emergency Department, Mental Health and Surgery.
- →Serve as a Rapid Response and Code team member.
- →Participation in educational activities related to the internal medicine residency program including trainee evaluation if applicable.
- →All attending physicians are expected to participate in ongoing process improvements within their specific areas of expertise thereby promoting quality, efficiency, patient safety, and timely access to care for our veteran patients.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
