About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

- →Provider will provide both clinical and administrative Emergency Medicine services at David Grant Medical Center (DOD/DHA facility).
- →Provider is expected to document into Cerner in a timely manner.
- →Administrative duties are general oversight of Inpatient Medical operations including but not limited to fielding and managing calls from outside transfers (JRIC), admitting, rounding, and discharging patients, completing necessary timesheets and DHA/VA required online and in-person training and other usual administrative activity.
- →Provider is expected to maintain Joint Commission readiness.
- →Direct supervisors are 1) Inpatient Medical Director and 2) Internal Medicine Element Chief at David Grant Medical Center.
- →Major Duties & Responsibilities: Provide independent care delivery for chronic, acute/same day medical needs for low and high acuity diagnoses and illnesses.
- →The type of care is served to the active duty, retiree, and Veteran population, with diseases consistent with those seen in the general population namely diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mental health disorders, etc.
- →Write orders for diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, consult with specialty service, and utilize computerized/electronic medical records.
- →Major function of the position includes ER evaluation/disposition of all adult patients on which the member is consulted as well as coverage of all inpatient medical patients at the med/surg and IMCU/step down level.
- →Independent ICU coverage is not excepted.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
