About the Role
VISN 23 is recruiting a Physician for the Clinical Resource Hub Tele-Emergency Care Program to serve our Veterans. This is a remote position. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of a VA facility. Internet speed tests may be requested to verify/determine suitability for remote work of candidates in consideration under this announcement.

- →The duties of the position include, but are not limited to: Provides urgent/emergent care via telephone or video and work collaboratively with other professionals in the V23 Clinical Resource Hub to support first contact resolution.
- →Receives referrals and provides direction for assessment, medical care, and follow-up.
- →Performs histories and physical examinations on patients.
- →History and physical examinations will mostly rely on the use of Telehealth technology.
- →Screens patients to determine need for further care.
- →Conducts handoff for direct referral to VISN 23 medical centers for emergent or urgent medical.
- →Prescribes medications within defined scope of practice and orders diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests and imaging.
- →Consults may also need to be ordered.
- →Provides education and counseling of patients and families as it relates to medical conditions, follow-up care, and the use of prescribed treatments and drugs.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship: non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
