About the Role
The VACIHS is seeking a full-time Physician - Diagnostic Radiology. The incumbent is responsible for providing quality and Veteran centered imaging services within this Medical Center. This position is remote. NOTE: THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF THE VA CENTRAL IOWA HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

- →NOTE: THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF THE VA CENTRAL IOWA HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.
- →Duties include: Performs duties and responsibilities of a radiologist in the areas of general radiology, CT, MRI, ultrasound, DEXA, nuclear medicine and PET/CT as provided and privileged.
- →Performs ultrasound examinations of the internal organs, thyroid, scrotum, and vascular exams such as carotids.
- →Interprets nuclear medicine studies such as bone scan, HIDA, MUGA, thyroid, and cardiac as privileged.
- →Provides PET/CT interpretations.
- →Participates in and supports performance improvement activities, including, but not limited to, external review programs, internal peer review programs, and accreditation requirements.
- →Provides accurate, concise, timely documentation of care in the electronic medical record(Computerized Patient Record System -CPRS) on each patient care occurrence.
- →Interpretation and dictation of reports must be completed using the existing voice recognition system for dictation and in the required VAMC format.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
