About the Role
The Board Certified Dermatologist at Robley Rex VA Medical Center will be responsible for providing comprehensive dermatologic care to our veteran population. This includes diagnosis, treatment, and management of skin conditions, diseases, and cosmetic concerns. The position requires working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care and may include clinical research and teaching responsibilities within the VA healthcare system.
What You'll Do
- →Duties and Responsibilities to include: Patient Care: Perform thorough skin examinations on veteran patients.
- →Diagnose and treat a variety of skin conditions, including but not limited to acne, eczema, psoriasis, and skin cancer.
- →Perform dermatologic procedures such as biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, laser treatments, and cosmetic procedures (e.g., Botox, fillers).
- →Provide patient education on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of veterans.
- →Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals within the VA system to coordinate veteran care.
- →Provide dermatologic consultations to inpatient units and other outpatient services as needed.
- →Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and quality improvement initiatives.
- →Clinical Research and Education: Engage in clinical research activities aimed at advancing the field of dermatology, with a focus on improving veteran health outcomes.
- →Mentor and provide education to medical students, residents, and other healthcare staff within the VA system.
- →Stay current with advancements in dermatology through continuous education and participation in professional organizations.
- →Administrative Responsibilities: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters in the VA's electronic health record (EHR) system.
- →Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and quality improvement projects.
- →Ensure compliance with all VA regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
