This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), Office of Satellite Products and Operations (OSPO), with 2 vacancies in Wallops Island, VA; Suitland, MD; Silver Spring, MD; College Park, MD; Asheville, NC; Boulder, CO; Fort Collins, CO; Madison, WI; Stennis, MS; or Fairbanks, AK.
What You'll Do
- →As a Physical Scientist/General Engineer, you will perform the following duties: Perform engineering or science calculations, develop preliminary design parameters, data and equipment design solutions and specifications, as well as project costs.
- →Conduct project analysis of satellite data and frequency interference to determine projects' impact on public safety, natural or environmentally sensitive locations, mission readiness, and operations during weather conditions.
- →Manage contracts as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
- →Work with manufacturers and customers to develop specialized ground equipment enhancing satellite communications and data distribution for various systems.
- →Ensure completion of documentation for procurement of divers, complex, novel, and unique electrical, mechanical, physical, science, or civil systems and specialized equipment for satellite or ground systems and various facilities.
- →NOTE: These duties are described at the full performance level of the ZP-4; the ZP-3 is developmental leading to such performance.
- →POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle.
- →Employee is required to provide support to antennas and satellite equipment and periodically drive to distant facilities.
- →Required to obtain/maintain COR Level II within 24 months.

- ✓This position requires Moderate Risk Security Clearance.
- ✓Background investigation will be required.
- ✓Continued employment is subject to applicant's successful completion of security investigation and favorable adjudication.
