You will serve as a Naval Architect in the Ocean Engineering Department of PSNS and IMF. GS-11 SALARY RANGE: $95,693-$124,407 GS-12 SALARY RANGE: $114,695-$149,106
What You'll Do
- →You will prepare or direct the preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, specifications or other engineering products.
- →You will provide technical direction that ensures timely, technically accurate execution of complex design projects and develop documents or drawings for planning projects.
- →You will assume responsibility and authority for technical adequacy, accuracy and timely execution of complex design projects.
- →You will troubleshoot, analyze and resolve technical, administrative and scheduling problems.
- →You will evaluate operations, equipment and activities and develop solutions to project testing and certification objectives.
- →You will perform engineering studies to determine systems requirements, modifications, repairs or specifications.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
- ✓In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: For GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience
