You will serve as a NAVAL ARCHITECT in the Structural Engineering/Planning Division, 412 of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.
What You'll Do
- →You will provide waterfront engineering support of submarine maintenance to include inspection and repair of structural components.
- →You will evaluate the integrity of existing shipboard structures and components and develop engineering guidance for repairs.
- →You will oversee the development of detailed specifications, material identification, quality assurance inspection and test requirements, calculations, documents, process instructions, drawings, memoranda, technical correspondence and reports.
- →You will communicate with stakeholders and develop technical justification for out of specification conditions.
- →You will provide engineering support for the work of production shops.
- →You will evaluate the effectiveness of work processes on personnel and customers to make recommendations for improvements.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
