This vacancy is for a GS-0871-13, Naval Architect located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OFFICE OF NAVAL ENGINEERING in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Naval Architect and be responsible for serving as a naval architecture specialist and consultant in performing the most difficult and/or critical aspects and projects in the section, and in assisting the Section Chief to administer the functions of the section.
- →These fucnctions are associated with the design, construction, modernization, overhaul, conversion, maintenance and repair of ta wide varity of vessels (including icebreakers, patrol boats and cutters, construction tenders and small boats).
- →Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
- →Typical work assignments include: Consulting with management and planning personnel for high value naval architecture or marine engineering projects.
- →Providing guidance and technical advice to lower-grade employees and specialist within the organization in the performance of related assignments and being available to team.
- →Maintaining and developing technical expertise and market research by participating in technical committee work with multiple Naval and Marine entities.
- →Evaluating proposals and furnishes expert technical advice and guidance with regard to compliance with professional, legal, or other binding standards.
- →Serving as a senior naval architect and technical specialist in coordinating and integrating the planning, programming, development, oversight, scheduling, and overall management of resources for multi-phase projects.
- →Guiding and evaluating contractor efforts and assesses technical progress in relation to the established schedule and resources allowed.
- →Creating project proposals reports or Engineering change proposals to identify and resolve issues of project scope, cost, resources, etc.
- →Coordinating the development of designs for large multi-purpose projects for systems or mission related conversion, maintenance, or construction of vessels.
