About the Role

The incumbent practices are within the full scope of their ARDMS Certifications and are assigned as an above full performance level MIT according to operational needs. Diagnostic ultrasound uses a transducer to generate high frequency sound waves to produce images of the body's internal structures for medical diagnostic purposes.

What You'll Do

  • Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties include but are not limited to the following: This Medical Instrument Technician (MIT)- Diagnostic Ultrasound position is assigned to the Roseburg VA Health Care System, Imaging Service covering dual positions in both Appendix C and Appendix D in the VA Handbook 5005/15 Part II Appendix G27.
  • Regardless of the assigned duty location the technologist may be required to perform duties at both the Roseburg facility and Eugene facility as needed and may be required to travel.
  • The incumbent practices are within the full scope of their ARDMS Certifications and are assigned as an above full performance level MIT according to operational needs.
  • Diagnostic ultrasound uses a transducer to generate high frequency sound waves to produce images of the body's internal structures for medical diagnostic purposes.
  • The sonographer uses independent, professional, and ethical judgment to safely perform exams and procedures.
  • They must be able to analyze sonographic findings, so a comprehensive exam is completed, and an accurate summary is provided to the interpreting radiologist for final interpretation.
  • The ultrasound diagnostic technologist at this level independently operates and performs above the full performance level, with higher-level duties consisting of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and range of variety, will be performed.
  • Duties will consist of 75% ultrasound-related patient care and 25% administrative and miscellaneous duties.
  • With other duties as assigned The MIT Diagnostic technologist require knowledge of image acquisition in Ultrasound, Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS), and Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Performs outpatient and impatient (location dependent) ultrasound examinations ranging from the routine to the highly specialized.
  • Exams may be performed in the Imaging Department or portable depending on patient care needs.
  • The technologist will be responsible for maneuvering, setting up, and adjusting equipment necessary to perform exam.
