This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Superintendent Senate Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent Tenant Services Division, Masonry Branch. The ideal candidate will serve as a journey level Mason.
What You'll Do
- →The tour of duty for this position is: Monday - Friday 5:00 A.M. - 1:30 PM.
- →This position may be eligible for Alternate Work Schedule (AWS).
- →Tour of duty may include holidays and weekends on a regular or recurring basis.
- →Rotating shift work may also be required.
- →This position is essential, which means the ideal candidate will be required to report to work during emergencies and inclement weather.
- →Makes visual inspection of work to be performed.
- →Determines work methods and processes best suited to the job and plans and lays out work details.
- →Computes the number of courses of brick and block and corresponding thickness of the mortar so that courses come out evenly with sills, tops of windows, doors and other openings.
- →Follows similar procedures for horizontal dimensions.
- →Mixes mortar and applies to bricks or blocks and lays to form overlapping joints.
- →Cuts brick and blocks to size with hammer or skill saw.
- →Checks vertical and horizontal alignment of structures with level and plumb bob.
- →Points up brick and stone work which involves stripping out old mortar, brushing out dust and dirt and applying new mortar with trowel.
- →Performs decorative stone, marble, granite and brick work.
