About the Role
You will serve as a MANAGER in the Expeditionary Warfare Weapons and Energy Systems Department (JX), Power and Energy Systems Division (JXM), Surface Energy Systems Branch (JXML) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-14 Step 10 (currently $163,514).
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as the branch manager for the Surface Energy Systems and Safety Certification Branch within the Power and Energy Systems Division.
- →You will be responsible for the development of the workforce, effective execution of workload consistent with organizational initiatives and objectives, and for providing outstanding support and service to assigned customers.
- →You will identify solutions and provide guidance and advice to subordinates and to other supervisors and managers when challenges emerge.
- →You will formulate objectives and priorities and implement plans consistent with long-term interests of the organization in a global environment.
- →You will take into consideration the environment, resources, capabilities, constraints, and organizational goals and values, and determining criteria for assessing effectiveness.
- →You will capitalize on opportunities and manage risks and contingencies, recognizing the implications for the organization and stakeholders.
- →You will develop and implement long and short term planning for required funding, human resources, facilities, and equipment; developing and implementing the organization's project and programmatic policies and procedures.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: For the 08XX Engineering Series: Successful completion of a bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering.
- ✓The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (I) Professional registration or licensure: Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
- ✓For the 1501 Series: Successful completion of a degree in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science.
- ✓The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position; or Successful completion of a combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study as shown above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
- ✓For the 1550 Series: Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science; or Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
- ✓At least 15 of my 30 semester hours were in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
