About the Role

What You'll Do

  • This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Assistant Secretary - Insular and International Affairs, Office of International Affairs, International Relations located in Washington, DC.
  • At the full performance level GS-11 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Maintains internal budget documents.
  • Monitors project expenditures for international engagements and reports against project budgets internally and externally; correctly utilizes various forms and payment methods to support project implementation.
  • Recommends financial processes and solutions to streamline project implementation.
  • Establishes internal controls in accordance with FMFIA and OMB Circular A-123 for financial transactions, travel, and procurement; conducts quarterly reviews for audit compliance.
  • Manages operational activities supporting international projects.
  • Collaborates with DOI administrative and technical specialists to monitor project implementation, draft reports, and closeout agreements.
  • Applies knowledge of U.S. foreign policy and of economic, social, cultural, and political factors in countries or regions assigned to office projects, meetings, and processes.
  • Conducts research into new or improved business and management practices for application to office programs or operations.
  • Drafts new or modified administrative program policies, regulations, goals, or objectives.
  • Advises leadership regarding policies, procedures, and systems for establishing, operating, and assessing the effectiveness of administrative control systems such as those designed to prevent waste, loss, unauthorized use, or misappropriation of assets.
  • Contributes to complex administrative and management projects.
  • Researches ongoing and projected programmatic activities; reviews information, reconciles conflicting data, devises new and modified methods, analyzes and evaluates findings, and develops effective recommendations for more efficient, effective, and economical ways to meet workload and program goals.
  • Determines compliance with agency regulations, procedures, sound management practices, and effective utilization of staff.
